I feel the same way. I no longer practice any religion, but I'm all in if there are good friends and delicious food. Those two elements are what make the best memories.

We need these moments too! We need ways to mark the years. Looking back at the photos of the kids as they've grown is so wonderful.

Delightful details, Melissa! I'm a PK - pastor's kid - which meant looking good for the congregation (never mind the abuses happening at home.) My sisters and I got new dresses and shiny patent leather shoes for Easter. My favorite Easter memory is discovering my beloved siamese Kitty had pooped in my brand new shoe, right before church! 🤣

Thank you so much!!

We have a lot of PKs here Christine! I think a lot with similar experiences TBH.

Not a shoe poop!!! omg no. Your mom must have lost her mind! lol

One year our cat killed a rabbit and laid it on the doorstep. Gothic 😅

Thank you for this. As a recovered (-ing? it's a process) fundamentalist preacher's kid, I have a lot of feels about Easter. Now that the kid is a teen and no longer interested in egg hunts, we don't observe... but in some ways I do miss marking spring with this big fluffy pastel mess of a holiday. And I also miss the ambrosia salad :)

It's really hard to figure out how to do it in a way that doesn't accidentally hit a trip wire! Next year we can plan a fluffy messy celebration just for spring 🫶🏻
